As
always in the HR business, the 2nd
quarter was an exciting and busy one.
The National Conference was in Philadelphia, and was much
enjoyed by many of our Chapter members including Kathy Williams,
Cathy Poniatowski, Diane Cooper, Stacey Gates, Chris Pierce and
Shirley Gabbard. Most
of us were able to run into each other at least once or twice, and
all of us enjoyed the sights, sounds, food, shopping and more of
Philadelphia. The
keynote speakers were excellent and while everyone had their
favorites, I particularly enjoyed hearing David McCullough (author
of John Adams) talk about how history was made right there on the
streets we were walking on. Wayne
Brady was every bit as funny in person as he is on television, and
Star Jones was funny and inspirational in her presentation on the
final conference day.
Don’t forget the HR Florida State Conference coming up in
September. This is the
25th
Anniversary of our State Conference, and is shaping up to be a
great event. Our
chapter pledged to have at least 5 members attend, and 5 members
have already pre-registered. It
would be great if we could double our pledge number.
If you’re considering going, make your plans now.
It’s
already time for our nominating committee, headed by Immediate
Past President Robin Grobsmith, to work on the slate of officers
for next year’s board. We
would love to hear from any of you who might be interested in a
board position. Our
board operates the best when we have a good mix of new ideas and
past experience, and we welcome you to bring your ideas to the
table.
Enjoy your summer and we’ll see you at the meetings,
Kathy |
